At COP30, the Brazilian biofuels sector launched the Belém Accord, calling to quadruple sustainable fuel production and use by 2035.

Em outubro de 2019, a UNICA, União da Industria da Cana-de-Açúcar, atualmente denominada “UNICA – União da Agroindústria Canavieira e de Bioenergia do Brasil”, submeteu sua solicitação de adesão à Rede Brasil do Pacto Global, sendo que, em janeiro de 2020, com grande entusiasmo, recebeu a notícia da sua efetiva adesão ao mesmo. Dois anos se passaram desde então, com muitos desafios, especialmente com o cenário de pandemia, e muitas ações foram realizadas.

In October 2019, UNICA, União da Industria da Cana-de-Açúcar, currently called “UNICA – União da Agroindústria Canavieira e de Bioenergia do Brasil”, submitted its application to join the Brazil Network of the Global Compact, and, in January 2020, with great enthusiasm, received the news of its effective adhesion to the instrument.

Sugar subsidies from India, Pakistan and the EU are again depressing world sugar prices.

Meeting in London today the Global Sugar Alliance called on our governments to take formal action in the WTO to initiate formal actions against Indian sugar subsidies.

The governments of the world’s major sugar exporting countries are being urged to band together and take an urgent complaint against India to the World Trade Organisation.
