Em outubro de 2019, a UNICA, União da Industria da Cana-de-Açúcar, atualmente denominada “UNICA – União da Agroindústria Canavieira e de Bioenergia do Brasil”, submeteu sua solicitação de adesão à Rede Brasil do Pacto Global, sendo que, em janeiro de 2020, com grande entusiasmo, recebeu a notícia da sua efetiva adesão ao mesmo. Dois anos se passaram desde então, com muitos desafios, especialmente com o cenário de pandemia, e muitas ações foram realizadas.
