Brazil faces the challenge of decarbonizing its heavy transport sector, historically dependent on diesel and responsible for a significant share of national greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In this context, biomethane has emerged as a strategic and technically viable alternative capable of replacing diesel competitively while reducing emissions by over 90%.
This panel will discuss the main challenges and opportunities to expand biomethane use in heavy transport, covering regulatory frameworks, distribution infrastructure, financial mechanisms, technological innovation, and regional production models.
