As COP30 approaches, global attention is turning to key discussions on transport decarbonization, renewable energy, and investment in clean technologies. Over the past week, European audiences took part in a series of events exploring how strengthened cooperation between Brazil and the European Union can help drive progress on the climate agenda.
Amazon Week
Now in its third edition, Amazon Week—an initiative promoted by Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, and the Brazilian embassies in Paris, Brussels, and Berlin—has firmly positioned the world’s largest rainforest at the heart of global discussions on climate action, biodiversity protection, and sustainable development.
This year’s edition brought together a specialized audience to engage with pressing issues such as climate finance, the bioeconomy, and pathways to sustainable growth.
On June 3rd in Brussels, special focus was given to the upcoming COP30. The discussions underscored the critical connections between climate change, forest preservation, and the bioeconomy—helping to shape a roadmap and advance strategic priorities ahead of the summit later this year.

On June 5th, a dynamic and insightful debate took place at the European Parliament, hosted by MEP Hélder Sousa Silva and attended by Brazilian Ambassador Pedro Miguel da Costa e Silva.
The discussion centered on the future of sustainable energy and materials, highlighting how the EU–Brazil partnership can take a leading role in advancing the global clean energy transition. It was concluded that strengthening cooperation between regions is essential to developing and scaling innovative solutions to the climate crisis—while also promoting sustainable growth and technological progress.
Brazil-France Economic Forum
Closing a week of fruitful debates, the Brazil–France Economic Forum was held on June 6th in Paris, during the state visit of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to France. The event was organized by ApexBrasil, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, Brazilian National Confederation of Industry (CNI), and Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF).
The forum brought together high-level authorities and business leaders from both countries to explore strategic cooperation in areas such as the energy transition, innovation, infrastructure, and investment opportunities.
A key highlight was the panel on decarbonization and the role of the private sector in COP30, focusing on how Brazil and France can collaborate to advance the goals of the Paris Agreement. The session was led by Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, designated President of COP30.
In his closing remarks, President Lula underscored the importance of free trade, the EU–Mercosur agreement, and Brazil’s leadership in sustainable production, climate action, and environmental protection.
The event showcased the vast potential of a stronger Brazil–France partnership in building a more sustainable, innovative, and inclusive future.
