UNICA at COP30 – “Sustainable fuels at the Belem agreement”

The Global Stocktake adopted at COP28 set clear milestones for the global energy transition, including tripling renewable energy capacity by 2030, reducing fossil fuel reliance, and accelerating decarbonization across all sectors. Sustainable fuels—such as biofuels, biogases, and renewable hydrogen—are central to achieving these goals, especially in sectors like aviation, shipping, and heavy industry that remain dependent on fuel-based solutions.

The recently launched Belém Commitment on Sustainable Fuels (Belém 4x) aims to accelerate the production and adoption of renewable energy sources, highlighting their importance for a balanced and resilient energy transition. 

This panel will explore how sustainable fuels can drive these transitions, in alignment with the Belém Commitment on Sustainable Fuels, highlighting their role in accelerating decarbonization, enhancing energy resilience, and advancing global climate objectives.
