UNICA at COP30 – “Integrated production of food and biofuels”

The global challenges of food security, climate change, and the energy transition demand innovative approaches that balance agricultural production, environmental protection, and sustainable energy generation. In this context, integrated food and biofuel production systems are emerging as effective solutions to ensure both food sovereignty and renewable energy supply while optimizing land use and improving rural resilience. 

This panel will explore successful examples and policy frameworks that promote synergies between agriculture and bioenergy, highlighting the role of innovation, research, and international cooperation in scaling up integrated production models. It will also address the need for safeguards to ensure that the expansion of biofuels does not compromise food availability, focusing on inclusive and sustainable solutions for farmers and rural communities.
