UNICA at COP30 – “Carbon-negative solutions in the context of sustainable fuels”

Removals achieved through Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACS) and Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS) could reach around 0.6 Gt by 2035 and 1.7 Gt by 2050, playing a crucial role in offsetting residual fossil fuel emissions. The ability to capture and permanently store biogenic CO₂ is essential for achieving net-negative emissions.

In this sense, this panel will address the technological, regulatory, and financial challenges to scaling up carbon-negative solutions within the context of sustainable fuels, highlighting opportunities for innovation, collaboration, and policy integration that can accelerate the development of projects capable of delivering permanent carbon removals.
