SUMMARY:UNICA at COP30 – “Reducing emissions at the Brazilian agribusiness: from coalition to action”
DESCRIPTION:Brazilian agribusiness plays a fundamental role in the global climate solution\, given its scale\, efficiency\, and capacity to integrate food production with sustainable energy generation. However\, fully decarbonizing the sector requires structured\, multisectoral\, and measurable actions that align environmental responsibility with productivity and competitiveness. \nThe Brazilian Agribusiness Decarbonization Coalition\, led by the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS)\, brings together companies from across the agricultural value chain with the goal of turning climate commitments into concrete\, scalable actions. \nThis panel will discuss the progress achieved by the Coalition\, how agribusiness can lead a sustainable transformation that combines climate mitigation\, adaptation\, and competitiveness\, and the collaborative pathways needed to accelerate the implementation of low-carbon practices across the sector.  \nThe session will also address the integration of agribusiness decarbonization efforts into national climate policies and international commitments\, highlighting Brazil’s potential to be a global benchmark in sustainable agricultural production.   \nSpeakers: \n\nRodrigo Simonato (Tereos)\nClaudia Veiga Jardim (Syngenta)\nJuliana Lopes (Amaggi)\nAlessandra Fajardo (CEBEDS)\n\nVenue: COP30 – Blue Zone – Brazilian Sustainable Transportation Pavilion (PV-B26) \n
