DESCRIPTION:The global maritime transport sector faces an urgent challenge to reduce its carbon footprint and align with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) strategy for\ndecarbonization\, which calls for a minimum 40% reduction in CO₂ intensity by 2030 (based on 2008 levels) and for zero or near-zero emission fuels to represent at least 5–10% of total energy use by the same year.
